LeaseQuery announced the hiring of Abdi Ali as technical lease accounting manager. Ali's chief responsibility will be to provide LeaseQuery's customers with a comprehensive understanding of the current lease accounting standards (FASB Topic 840) and assist them with transitioning to the new ones that go into effect in 2019 (FASB Topic 842 and IFRS 16).
“We're thrilled to welcome Abdi to our team,” said George Azih, LeaseQuery founder and chief executive officer. “Our customers rely on us for guidance in complying with lease accounting regulations – both old and new. Abdi brings expertise that will help them navigate the complexities of the changing regulatory landscape.”
“I'm excited about joining the team at LeaseQuery, especially at this time,” Ali said. “Not only is the regulatory environment changing, but the company is at a phenomenal stage in its growth. I'm really looking forward to working with our customers to help them prevent compliance issues.”
Ali joins a growing team of experienced technical lease accounting managers on the heels of a record year for LeaseQuery. Prior to LeaseQuery, Ali earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting followed by a master’s degree in professional accountancy from Georgia State University’s Robinson College of Business.
He began his career as an audit intern at Grant Thornton LLP and soon after joined full time as an audit associate. While at Grant Thornton, he assisted in the audits of various publicly traded and privately held clients. Ali also has experience as a general ledger accountant from positions he held after his time at Grant Thornton.
LeaseQuery is a provider of comprehensive lease accounting software.
