The impact of “The Sharing Economy” on business-to-business financial transactions will be explored Tuesday during a panel discussion at the Commercial Equipment Marketplace Council (CEMC) Fintech Innovation Summit. Panelists will include Moderator Patricia M. Voorhees, a director with The Alta Group consultancy; Brett Read, CEO of Cohealo; and Robert Preville, founder and CEO of KWIPPED.
Voorhees said the panel will discuss the breadth of the dynamic B2B sharing economy and how it differs from consumer-oriented Uber and Airbnb type models.
The panelists will share examples of transactions in commercial markets where the business use of assets supersedes equipment ownership interests, and how this concept dovetails with the industry’s push to develop managed services transactions (MSTs). MSTs, also called managed solutions or managed services, bundle equipment finance with related services and software. Payments are calculated based on consumption data.
Cohealo’s solution for data-driven equipment management in hospitals will provide one scenario of equipment sharing and purchasing based on usage data. The KWIPPED online marketplace, a B2B fintech model for industrial equipment rental or leasing, also will be featured in this presentation.
During their session, the panelists also will address how applications using blockchain, artificial intelligence and the internet-of-things are contributing to industry disruption and creating opportunity for innovators.
This is the second annual West Coast summit hosted by the CEMC, co-founded by Currency Capital and The Alta Group in 2016. The event is being held in Laguna Beach, Calif., at the Ritz Carlton.
Some 140 executives will converge at this exclusive event designed to highlight innovations at the intersection of financial services and fintech. The theme is “Innovate or Die.” For more information, visit cemcouncil.com.
