The pricing index bounced to its highest reported number in the past twelve months in October with a reading of 52.7, according to the most recent ACT For-Hire Trucking Index from ACT Research Co., LLC (ACT). Twenty-five percent of respondents reported a modest increase, with 57% seeing no change in their revenue per mile.

Purchase intentions jumped more than 10% for tractors in October, with 41% planning purchases in the next three months. Thirty-five percent of the respondents plan to buy trailers in that period, an increase of six points compared to September. Almost all the purchases will be new and will be used to expand truckers’ fleets.
