Marlin Business Services Corp. announced that it has promoted Karen Shields to Vice President and Deputy General Counsel.
“Karen has been a huge contributor to Marlin’s success for a long time, and she embodies so many of the wonderful traits of our company,” said Edward Dietz, Marlin’s Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “Karen’s unique balance of legal skills and business sense will continue to enhance Marlin’s strategic direction, growth and profitability.”
In her new role, Shields will have responsibility for managing a number the company’s legal functions, including vendor and customer contract negotiations, litigation and the creation and management of the company’s transactional documents.
Shields joined Marlin in January 2003 as a Senior Paralegal and was promoted to Corporate Attorney in 2004 and to Assistant Vice President in 2013. Since 2009, Shields has chaired Marlin’s Community Enrichment Guild, the company’s charitable committee which is focused on investing time and resources into the communities Marlin serves. Shields holds a law degree and a bachelor’s degree in business management from Rutgers University.
