A new report from Navigant Research examines the market for advanced sensors in six key segments, with global market forecasts for revenue and shipments, broken out by segment, customer sector, and region, through 2025.

By providing data that can improve building performance, advanced sensors play a critical role in transforming regular facilities into intelligent buildings. These devices, which are growing in popularity, can strengthen the operations of specific building systems, such as lighting and heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC), but also support more comprehensive business and financial strategies. Click to tweet: According to a new report from Navigant Research, global advanced sensor revenue is expected to grow from $1.2 billion in 2016 to $3.2 billion in 2025.

“Advanced sensors are the critical data streams to intelligent building management systems that generate actionable insight for operational and energy efficiency,” says Casey Talon, senior research analyst with Navigant Research. “These devices help transform how commercial facilities are managed and can also increase energy efficiency, operational efficiency, occupant satisfaction, safety, and more.”

According to the report, the facilities industry is undergoing a dramatic transformation. Factors, including an aging workforce, changing expectations from tenants and employees, and new pressures on sustainability and efficiency are opening the door to intelligent building solutions, particularly advanced sensors, which are considered a key enabling device for this evolution.

The report, Advanced Sensors for Intelligent Buildings, analyzes the global market for advanced sensors in six key segments: occupancy, photo, CO2, humidity, temperature, and multifunctional sensors. The study provides an analysis of the market issues, including business cases, opportunities, and implementation challenges, associated with advanced sensors. Global market forecasts for revenue and shipments, broken out by segment, customer sector, and region, extend through 2025. The report also examines the key technologies related to the broader intelligent buildings market, as well as the competitive landscape.
