JPMorganChase named Matt Sable and Melissa Smith as Co-Heads of Commercial Banking, within the firm’s Commercial & Investment Bank. Sable and Smith will lead a dynamic and growing business that serves more than 70,000 clients across 154 locations in the U.S. and Canada. They will report to John Simmons and Filippo Gori, Co-Heads of Global Banking. Clients of the Commercial Bank include early-stage startups to midsize corporations, government entities, not-for-profit organizations and commercial real estate investors.
Sable has been with the firm for nearly 25 years and has a vast breadth of experience successfully leading teams across Banking, Finance and Strategy. He most recently led the Financial Institutions Group (FIG) in Global Corporate Banking and served on its Executive Committee. Previously, Sable was CB’s Chief Financial Officer and, prior to that, head of CB Strategy. Before joining CB, he spent 15 years as an investment banker in the Financial Institutions Group and served as the co-head of Specialty Finance and Alternative Asset Management.
Smith has 27 years of experience with the firm and has been instrumental in building teams that deliver deep industry expertise and tailored solutions to clients across sectors. She’s held numerous leadership roles and was most recently the head of Specialized Industries and co-head of Innovation Economy for Middle Market Banking within CB, and served on the Executive Committee. Prior to that, she was the Northeast Group Head for Corporate Client Banking. Before joining CB, Smith spent the earlier part of her career in the firm’s Investment Bank where she was the head of EMEA Investment Grade Finance and led the healthcare, consumer, retail and chemicals team within Debt Capital Markets.
