Citizens has appointed Peter Panos as South Region Executive, succeeding Brian Peters, who is retiring. Panos, who is based in Atlanta, will report to Head of Corporate Banking Steve Woods and have responsibility for leading a team of senior bankers who serve as strategic and financial partners to Citizens clients across 14 states.

“Peter has a deep understanding of the complex challenges our clients face and a strong track record of helping them succeed,” said Woods. “I am confident that Peter’s leadership will serve the team well as we continue to leverage our enhanced product and industry capabilities combined with our local coverage model to drive prudent growth in the region.”

Added Woods: “I would like to thank Brian for his leadership in building our talented South region team and positioning the bank and its clients for long-term success.”

After nearly two decades at SunTrust, Panos joined Citizens in 2017 as a managing director and helped rapidly expand its corporate banking business in the South region. He was appointed as Head of the Energy and Southwest Corporate Banking teams in 2021.

Panos is a graduate of the University of Georgia.
