Womble Bond Dickinson congratulated its partner William “Chip” Sturm on beginning his new role as General Counsel of BluePath Finance, Inc. “Our equipment finance team would not be the nationally renowned practice it is today without Chip’s dedication to our clients and his sound business acumen,” said Merrick Benn, Chair of Womble Bond Dickinson’s Capital Markets Practice Group. “Chip has been both an extraordinary partner of ours as well as a trusted friend and we are grateful for his service to the firm and our clients, his commitment to colleagues and unparalleled lawyering skills. But we’re also very proud to have an organization like BluePath choose one of our attorneys to lead their legal department and wish Chip all the best with this exciting opportunity which we celebrate together.”
BluePath finances sustainable infrastructure projects to a range of clients in the US, UK, and EU, including municipalities, non-profits and commercial entities.
“I am very excited about this opportunity to join a dynamic team and rapidly growing company,” said Sturm. “BluePath fulfills an important role in our global well-being by providing efficient, affordable and sustainable infrastructure financing. I am extremely appreciative of Womble Bond Dickinson, the great relationships I have built at the firm and its important role in preparing me for this opportunity. I have been privileged to work with the talented and dedicated attorneys of Womble Bond Dickinson where together we built an equipment finance practice that is unmatched and will continue to thrive.”
Sturm joined Womble Bond Dickinson in 2016. His practice focused on representing lessors, lenders and investors in structuring, negotiating and documenting a wide variety of project finance (including solar and other renewable energy projects), public finance, equipment finance and commercial lending transactions. Sturm is an active member of the Association for Governmental Leasing and Finance, the National Association of Bond Lawyers and the Equipment Leasing and Finance Association. He also serves on the Board of Directors of The Loading Dock, Inc., a Baltimore-based non-profit dedicated to keeping landfill bound, reusable materials out of the waste stream and increasing the supply of affordable building materials for housing and community improvement.
Sturm earned his law degree from the University of Georgia School of Law and his undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland, College Park.
