CSI EPC Expands to Edmonton, Promotes Executives

February 21, 2020, 07:20 AM

Toronto-based CSI Electronics Processing Centre Ltd. (CSI EPC), a wholly owned subsidiary of CSI Leasing Canada Ltd., has expanded its operations by opening a facility in Edmonton, Alberta. This new facility complements CSI EPC’s existing Canadian operations in Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver, and further extends U.S.-based EPC’s global footprint. The facility expects to process more than 30,000 IT assets annually.

“Adding a facility in Edmonton will greatly help us service our customers in the western region. The additional location will not only save our customers shipping costs, but it will also allow us to process more equipment in a more timely manner,” said Colin Taves, President of CSI EPC. “As with everything we do, this facility will help us expand our mission to protect Canada and the global environment from harmful e-waste through reuse and proper disposal.”

Thad McBride has moved to Edmonton from Calgary where he was a processing lead. He will serve as the new facility’s warehouse manager. McBride has been with CSI EPC for four years.

CSI EPC also announced several executive promotions:

  • Colin Taves, President of CSI EPC. Previously Vice President and General Manager, Taves joined the company in 2013 as an Account Executive. During his tenure, he has overseen the growth of CSI EPC facilities in Toronto and Calgary, as well as the opening of the Vancouver facility in 2019. Taves has more than 25 years of experience in asset recovery, data security, remarketing and environmental disposal. He has held executive positions with Rider Computer Services Ltd. and Global Electric Electronic Processing, Inc. (GEEP), overseeing asset management services and remarketing for Canada, U.S. and Caribbean regions. Throughout his career, his focus has been on asset tracking and data security, specializing in the financial, healthcare and educational sectors. Taves is based in Toronto.
  • Michael Kubala, Vice President of Operations. Kubala joined CSI EPC as general manager of Western Canada in January 2019. Previously, he led western operations for several companies, including Sims Recycling Solutions and Rider Computer Services Ltd., specializing in asset recovery and recycling. Kubala brings an in-depth knowledge of the industry as well as analytical expertise to CSI as the company expands operations in Canada. Kubala is based in Vancouver.
  • Kevin Blakey, Vice President of Sales. Blakey joined CSI EPC as an Account Executive in 2013 and has been instrumental in producing client growth with his unique relationship-building skills and constant focus on a positive client experience. Prior to CSI EPC, Blakey had a long career in the print and media services industries. He is based in Toronto.

As part of U.S.-based CSI Leasing’s global group, CSI EPC also manages off-lease IT asset disposal for parent company, CSI Leasing Canada. They provide reliable and secure end-of-life lease disposal primarily for large multi-national companies, local governments and educational organizations. CSI EPC’s sister company in the U.S., EPC, is one the of largest IT asset disposal providers in the world.

“CSI EPC has experienced tremendous growth the past several years. It’s a testament to our team’s commitment to responsible e-waste disposal throughout Canada,” said Steve Hamilton, Chairman and CEO of CSI Leasing. “Along with enhancing CSI Leasing Canada’s service offering, Colin and his team have done a remarkable job positioning CSI EPC as the country’s premier IT asset disposal provider.”

CSI Leasing Canada is a wholly owned subsidiary of CSI Leasing, Inc., one of the largest independent equipment leasing and equipment lifecycle services companies in the world. Established in 1972, CSI has operations throughout North, Central and South America, Europe and Asia.
