According to the most recent State of the Industry: U.S. Trailers published by ACT Research Co. (ACT), new trailer order volumes of 32,143 trailers netted to 29,947 units after cancellations.

“Net orders were up 17% sequentially and up 68% from the same month last year,” said Frank Maly, Director – CV Transportation Analysis and Research at ACT. Concerning backlogs, Maly noted that the industry orderboard is now at the highest level since August, 2006. “While dry vans were the driving force in the 11% m/m total industry gain, strength was widespread. Seven of ten trailer categories were up month-over-month,” he added. February production surged compared to a weather-impacted January.

ACT is the worldwide leading publisher of new and used commercial vehicle (CV) industry data, market analysis and forecasting services for the North American market, as well as the U.S. tractor-trailer market and the China CV market. ACT’s CV services are used by all major North American truck and trailer manufacturers and their suppliers, as well as the banking and investment community in North America, Europe and China.
