Steven E. Byrnes, who has provided business transformation services for more than 50 of the world’s largest lending and leasing companies, has joined The Alta Group to lead its new application consulting practice, Alta CEO John C. Deane announced today. Prior to becoming a managing director at Alta, Byrnes was a principal and leader of Capgemini’s North American Diversified Lending practice.
The timing of Alta’s new practice reflects the increased emphasis on leveraging operations and technology to achieve the primary business objectives of equipment leasing and asset finance companies. Byrnes said the application consulting practice guides clients from strategy through to execution, with business solutions and supporting technologies. Specific services include business practice review and re-engineering; business process transformation; information technology (IT) assessment and strategy; and system selection, implementation, and process optimization.
“Alta has always been viewed primarily as a strategic consulting firm. With new practices, including application consulting, we are responding to our clients’ requests that we combine that superior strategic perspective and experience, with tactical services,” Deane noted.
He cited Byrnes’ professional background as integral to launching the newest practice. Earlier in his career, Byrnes held senior management positions at Blackwell Consulting, was one of the founders of Northern Consulting, and was employed by LINC Capital, Newcourt Financial and the Bank of Ireland. He is active in the Equipment Leasing and Finance Association (ELFA) and is a frequent industry speaker and author.
