The Trucker reported that sales of Class 8 trucks totaled 13,158, a drop of 27.4% from December 2012 and a 6.8% decline from January 2012.
According to the report, only the Daimler nameplates — Freightliner and Western Star — showed sales increases over December. Freightliner sold 5,868 trucks in January compared with 5,486 in December, and Western Star sold 317 trucks in December compared with 279 in December.
International sold 1,959 trucks, a 26.6% decrease from December. Peterbilt, Kenworth, Volvo and Mack all demonstrated declines.
