Chief Credit Officer
Location: Evansville, IN

Purpose of Job

The Chief Credit Officer (CCO) is responsible for leading and managing the Credit Department, overseeing all credit initiatives, and ensuring adherence to Credit Policies and Procedures. The role involves managing creditworthiness evaluations, syndication, consumer buying functions, risk assessments, and financial covenants. The CCO will implement best practices, promote timely service to clients, and maintain strong credit portfolio oversight.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Credit Analysis & Approval
  • Oversee credit analysis to ensure adherence to banking industry best practices.
  • Conduct annual reviews of credit transactions for compliance and improvement.
  • Approve credit decisions within established authority limits of up to $1.5M.
  • Ensure timely credit approval processes to meet client expectations.
Credit Administration
  • Assess and report on industry segment risks and credit exposure limits quarterly.
  • Monitor and report financial covenant compliance.
  • Maintain and improve credit risk rating systems and workflows.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Compliance, and Sales teams to resolve credit-related issues.
  • Support client meetings to enhance service and foster relationships.
Portfolio Management
  • Monitor syndication goals and develop syndication networks.
  • Manage portfolio buys and syndication sell-side activities.
  • Review and refine consumer buying practices annually.
Leadership & Development
  • Build and develop a high-performing Credit team through training and performance appraisals.
  • Conduct annual skill testing and ensure team members meet minimum training requirements.
  • Promote a culture of accountability and continuous improvement within the department.
Compliance & Reporting
  • Ensure compliance with credit policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide monthly performance reports to the CEO and Executive Chairman.
  • Assist in managing workout accounts, deferrals, and assumptions.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
Experience
  • Minimum of 10 years in Commercial Banking or Accounting.
Skills & Competencies
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
  • Exceptional analytical, communication, and multitasking skills.
  • Experience collaborating with Sales teams in a Credit role preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of economic indicators, financial markets, hedging concepts, interest rates, and lease/loan structures and contracts.
  • Ability to interpret all types of business financial statements, including Reviewed and Audited Financial Statements and Notes to Financial Statements.
  • Familiarity with individual, corporate, and partnership federal income tax returns.
