AACFB Hosts Successful Annual Conference

May 20, 2022, 07:18 AM

The American Association of Commercial Finance Brokers (AACFB) wrapped up its 2022 Annual Conference on May 13 in Charlotte, NC, at the Sheraton Charlotte. Attendance at the event nearly reached pre-pandemic levels, proving that the industry is ready to get back to in-person events and networking.

The three-day event hosted 331 attendees who enjoyed a full program of events, including a fantastic day at the Skybrook Golf Club for the annual golf tournament and the Women in Finance Luncheon, which took place at the trendy Church and Union restaurant. Day one was capped off with the Opening Reception at the Cloud Bar lounge atop the Le Meridien hotel with live music and stunning views of the city.

Conference goers had the opportunity to attend 15 educational sessions, including a high-energy presentation by keynote speaker Kevin Elko, who inspired and energized the audience. The educational line-up had something for everyone, whether new to the industry or a seasoned veteran.

The exhibit hall was in full swing on Thursday and Friday where over 60 exhibitors were able to make those all-important face-to-face connections. Attendees were also treated to a deluxe coffee bar, margarita bar, Bloody Mary bar, and chair massages in the exhibit hall, courtesy of generous sponsors.

AACFB President Carrie Radloff said, “We were extremely pleased with the turnout. It is always great to see so many long-time members who return year after year but there were also 150 fresh faces at this year’s conference, which is extraordinary!”

The conference culminated in the Annual Business Meeting and Auction, where Radloff thanked Immediate Past President Cindy Downs for her service on the AACFB board. The presidency then transitioned from Carrie Radloff to Laura Estrada with Preferred Capital Funding, Inc. and Secretary/Treasurer, Roderick Knoll presented an upbeat Treasurer’s Report where he enthusiastically reported that the AACFB is in a positive financial position and has no debt again this year. Radloff also presented the 2022 AACFB President’s Award to Gary Greene, CLFP, BPB with Lease $mart and AACFB Executive Director Monica Harper for their dedication and support of the AACFB.

Once the business at hand had concluded, Bobby Cowan with Y.E.S. Leasing took the mic to emcee the prize auction that is a favorite event at the conference. Attendees were able to collect “AACFB Bucks” during the conference for visiting with exhibitors or attending sessions. Bucks could also be purchased, with the proceeds benefiting the AACFB Scholarship Fund. Those in attendance had the opportunity to use their “bucks” to bid on prize packages worth up to $500 donated by AACFB sponsors and exhibitors.

After a busy week of networking and learning, attendees were finally able to kick back and relax at the Happy Hour & a Half hosted at the pool bar lounge. Many are already making plans to attend the Commercial Financing Expo taking place this Sept. 7-8 in Las Vegas, NV.
