Gibbons goes on to explain how the massive amount of data now available and its interconnectivity is impacting how people see the world, and ultimately this is empowering consumers to make decisions. He cites the equipment finance industry stating that in the commercial leasing space, customers are more informed than ever and as a result, they have become more impatient. They are making faster and better buying decisions, and these customers expect the companies they are doing business with to reciprocate with the level of speed, simplicity and transparency they have become accustomed to in the market.

Mobile activity is also on the rise in the commercial lending space according to Gibbons. Mobile technologies are designed to solve complex business problems and also provide predictive insights – in some cases more rapidly and with greater precision than desktop applications. The key is to create a dramatically improved customer experience.
