Date: Jan 08, 2013 @ 07:43 AM

The ELFA community is mourning the loss of long-time member Dennis Neumann, Chief Executive Officer of BNY Capital Funding, who passed away suddenly on Jan. 4. Neumann contributed to the association in countless ways. He served as 2004-2005 ELFA Chairman, Chair of the Large Ticket Business Council Steering Committee and Chair of the former for-profit subsidiary ELFA Business Services.

Another former ELFA Chairman Joe Lane fondly remembered Neumann, writing: "Certainly the industry has lost a great leader in Dennis. His wit and charm, his insightful and knowledgeable commentary, and of course his being a role model for all of us as a true gentleman, will last forever with those of us who knew Dennis well. His friendship was a genuine treasure."

In addition to his CEO duties at BNY Capital Funding, Neumann was Executive Vice President of The Bank of New York/Mellon, where his duties included Head of U.S. Commercial Banking, the Bank’s Corporate and Institutional Credit Committee and the Asset and Liability Committee. He joined The Bank of New York in 1989 as Senior Vice President and President of BNY Capital Funding. Prior to joining the Bank, he was Managing Director of First Chicago Leasing Corporation and a Director of Tiger Financial Services, a subsidiary of North American Car Corporation and Tiger International.

He received a Bachelor of Science from The University of Illinois and a Masters of Management from the J. L. Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
