According the Polk Quarterly Commercial Vehicle Report for March, new commercial vehicle registrations for Class 3-8 vehicles for the first quarter of the 2012 calendar year were 129,755 units, representing a 26.6% increase over same period of 2011. The report also notes new registrations were also at their highest quarterly level since the 2008 calendar year.
The report also notes that Class 8 new commercial vehicle registrations were the strength of the commercial vehicle market during the first quarter of 2012. During the first quarter of 2102, Class 8 new registrations were up 44.9% from the comparable quarter of the 2011.
Also noted was that since August 2011, Class 8 vehicles new registrations have been consistently around the 15,000 to 16,000 unit level.
