Komatsu Reports 15% Rise in Sales; 2012 Global Forecast Revised Downward

October 28, 2011, 06:00 AM

International Construction reported that Komatsu’s sales increased 15% for the six months ended September 30, 2011 to $13 billion and net income increased 48.5% to $ 1.2 billion. The company’s overall sales of construction, utility and mining equipment increased by 11.8%.

However, these positive results were overshadowed by declining demand for construction, mining and utility equipment in China. The article indicates that Komatsu saw demand for construction, mining and utility equipment grow steadily in various markets including North America.

Komatsu revised its full-year sales and profit forecasts (FYE March 31, 2012) downward due to the Chinese government's fiscal measures which will negatively impact demand for the company’s products.
